How to Start a Request? A Contrastive Study of Alerters in Spanish by Speakers of L1 Spanish and L1 French

Abstract The formulation of requests has been widely studied in pragmatics, both within a (variety of) language and from contrastive perspective. In this study, we will show the specific role alerters (elements that precede request head act serve to get attention hearer on request) formulation, comparing L1 speakers Spanish L2 with French Discourse Completion Tests Naturalised Interactions. doing so, contribute pragmatic study languages. Our data reveal there are statistically significant differences use DCT s but not Alerters occur rather similar frequencies groups, qualitative as which forms adopted. At methodological level, highlight obtained groups’ vs. Interactions different results, thus underlining importance combined methods for pragmatics research.
